Event source is the second fallback of SignalR if WebSockets do not work. The way event source works is it sends a content type to the client of text/event-stream. This essentially tricks the client into listening for an indefinite amount time. This allows the server to send new data as it becomes available. This makes the server push a reality, but it is only a one way connection. Any data sent from the client is sent as a new request.
