The Difference Between WordPress and BoldGrid

Here on the screen, I have a default version of WordPress using the 2017 theme. When you first install WordPress, this is what your site will look like. Keep in mind that over 25% of websites built on the Internet today are using WordPress. That is 1 of every 4 sites you visit. WordPress is a great tool to use. Sometimes, however, people need a bit more help when designing their site. They just don't know where to begin, or need that little extra nudge for inspiration. Now, let me show you a default website using WordPress and the BoldGrid plugin. Notice this page has a bit more polish on it. It is still WordPress, but with some extra features that BoldGrid adds. It already has a prebuilt home page, it has some pages already built in. It is basically a template that is ready to go once you insert your specific content such as copy and images. Now this is just one of the many Inspiration themes for Boldgrid, there are many more and they can be customized based on your industry catgegory. This one is based on a fitness category, but there are others such as Real Estate, restaurannts, and even a General category for those that cannot find a specific one. The changes aren't just up front. Inside the dashboard area you can see the standard WordPress menu on the left hand side. Now, this is the one for Boldgrid. Some names have changed and a few new ones added. BoldGrid also has its own standardized Customizer. First, lets look at the default WordPress customizer. Keep in mind, the Customizer can change depending on your theme, so third party themes may have different tabs and options. And now we have the BoldGrid Customizer. It is a third party theme and it is different. But take a look at all the tabs here. And, these tabs will remain the same when you use any of the Boldgrid themes. For page and post editing, let's take a look at the default post editor. Now, lets look at the BoldGrid post editor. It takes the existing WordPress editor and adds some user-friendly controls to help you out. Last is the ability to create a staging version for your BoldGrid site. This is where you can create a separate version of your site while leaving the current one in place. This is designed to let you explore other options, themes, colors, etc without having to install an entirely different WordPress somewhere else. So as you can see, BoldGrid definitely cannot exist without WordPress, so it is NOT a replacement. It is a plugin set that works WITH WordPress so that those who need it can get a little extra help.
